We played "get to know you" games with the kids AND parents, which helped us all put names with the faces we've been seeing as we drop our kids off and pick them up from rehearsals.
And there was the greatly anticipated announcement of our new rehearsal and performance space! We are currently working with contractors and the landlord of the property - located at Higley and Guadalupe - to build out the Tuscany Theatre, where AYT will perform most of its shows each season. (We will continue our relationship with the Mesa Arts Center, and other performance venues in the East Valley, to perfom at least one show per season in one of these other venues.) We will also have our own rehearsal space at this theatre, and will conduct our classes and workshops there too. Marcus Ellsworth (AYT Artistic Director) and Julie Clement (AYT Creative Director) described the layout of the spaces and the decor they have in mind for the performance space. We are all so excited to see the fruits of our labors and your donations culminate in the opening of our own space in this, our tenth anniversary season!
We really appreciate all who helped out with this event - for all the food, utensils, and supplies provided - and all those who came and participated. It was a wonderful way to get to know each other better and to celebrate this great theatre organization we have all come to love.
We missed all those who couldn't make the picnic, but look forward to seeing everyone at the next AYT event!!
